What is Art?
Art. What is it exactly? The first thing that pops into my head when I think of art is paintings or sculptures craftily made by deep artists. How daft of an assumption. Art is much more then this, yet each one of us has an artist within. The world is our canvas. Our experiences and opinions mixed together create the beautiful colors in which we paint our unique stories. This three letter word has more meanings imaginable; art is limitless.
The dictionary defines art as the diverse range of human activities and the products of those activities. Art can be poetry and music. It can be dance, fashion, and film to name a few. Art allows us to express ourselves. It allows us to show our individuality to the world while remaining true to ourselves. Art is truly beautiful and I hope to explore art within this blog. This my friend, is only the beginning of a journey. Are you willing to join me, or would you rather ignore this gift we all have inside us? With this canvas (blog) I hope to enlighten not only myself, but many others about the wonders art offers us.
Art. What is it exactly? It is life.
Beauty does not always feel beautiful.

This image depicts American icon Marilyn Monroe with the quote ' beauty does not always feel beautiful' written across the canvas. There is more truth to this image then many may be aware of. As most people know Marilyn was always depicted in film as a stereotypical 'dumb blonde' character; her potential was much greater than what her production company aloud her to portray. Marilyn struggled greatly in a male dominate field to let her potential be known. In her last interview before her tragic and controversial death Marilyn stated and I quote, "Please don't make me a joke''. We as a society now recognize Marilyn as an accomplished actress; much more than a woman who sang Happy Birthday with dress flying over her knees. I could talk about the struggle Marilyn went through in her life for much longer, but I will get to the point. Marilyn Monroe is a prime example that even though one is beautiful, it does not mean that they had or will have a beautiful life full of happiness. In reality even the worlds most beautiful people face many barriers that hold them back, not allowing them to harness their full potential due to the stereotypes faced on a daily biases.
