There is more truth to this image then many may be aware of. As most people know Marilyn was always depicted in film as a stereotypical 'dumb blonde' character; her potential was much greater than what her production company aloud her to portray. Marilyn struggled greatly in a male dominate field to let her potential be known. In her last interview before her tragic and controversial death Marilyn stated and I quote, "Please don't make me a joke''. We as a society now recognize Marilyn as an accomplished actress; much more than a woman who sang Happy Birthday with dress flying over her knees. I could talk about the struggle Marilyn went through in her life for much longer, but I will get to the point. Marilyn Monroe is a prime example that even though one is beautiful, it does not mean that they had or will have a beautiful life full of happiness. In reality even the worlds most beautiful people face many barriers that hold them back, not allowing them to harness their full potential due to the stereotypes faced on a daily biases.

ReplyDeleteI really love this post, mainly because Marilyn Monroe is one of my idols. Although her life ended tragically, she was still such a strong woman that inspired so many other woman throughout the years. My favourite quote would definitely be "I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.”
