Top reason: recognized more for his average looks(in my opinion) rather than his acting ability.
His acting has become a clichĂ© cornball show. We’ve seen it
before. We’ve seen it all before.
I believe he was a much better actor a few years ago, I used
to love watching him in the Ocean’s series(hyperlink) but recently I’d rather not
bother with any of his movies. I’ve heard some people note him as the best
actor we have today. What a joke! Not to mention a severe overreaction to a person that
seems to have lost sight of why he is acting in the first place. In His recent
movies(except for Moneyball) he has lacked that swagger that truly
made him a great actor. His most recent movie (Killing Them Softly) brought in the
lowest box office total any of his movies have ever received in his entire
career. Bringing in a meager 6 million dollars. Such a fall from grace for such
a prominent star. He is regarded as one of the 25 most influential people in
America, deservedly so, but dear I say it? He needs to improve his acting
ability.
For him to do so I believe he needs to expand his genres. He
is dominant in his always-in control look, but it might be time for a change.
Look at other actors who have done the same. Mark Wahlberg in Ted, Leonardo DiCaprio in just about all of his movies. It keeps them relevant, and expands
their abilities as actors. Pitt should take this advice and do the same.
In fact I believe his wife Angelina Jolie to be a
much better actor than he is.
Honestly, one of the true signs of a good singer is whether
or not he/she can sing just as good live as they do on the finished recorded
product. Katie Perry cannot sing live. Although I have not personally seen her
live, this fact has been well-documented.
In terms of her actual singing she lacks that intensity that
I have been accustomed to from a lot of other artists. A solid performance
every time you come on stage regardless of the circumstance is what fans hope
for every time they see you in concert. Any artist can record a song and fine
tune it mechanically to make it sound like a hit record. But the previous
points I made are what separate the good from the great.
Take someone like Kanye West for example. He brings passion
every time he comes on stage and brings the exact same emotions that are felt
in his songs in to real life. That is why he is loved so much. And that separates
him from the pack.
Maybe I’m being too harsh in comparing her with someone as polished
as Kanye West, but for someone who is just as popular I definitely expect more.
I thought about putting Lil Wayne here but I think he’s been
bashed enough as it is. It’s a good thing his right hand man is just as
overrated as he is.
Believe it or not this one hurts me. Seeing him go from a
lyrical genius, yes lyrical genius, to a pop artist in one false swoop has been
disheartening. Drake has been quoted as saying he got his puns and intricate
lyrics from his mom; when she used to give him several riddles a day to solve.
It developed his mind greatly and it is what gave him the ability to be so deep
lyrically early on in his career.
Based on the material he
has released to the public in the last 3 years or so he is definitely
overrated, and it leaves me asking myself, what happened to the real Drake? Drake
is a very talented artist don’t get me wrong but I do believe he can do better,
and has done better. His first two
mix tapes Comeback Season and Comeback Season 2 were the
highlight of his career. Don’t believe me? Check it out! Each song brought a
soulfull-ish/r and b flavor mixed with a deeper level of rap. His puns were
deep, lyrics were more authentic and the beats on his songs were passionate.
What do you think of this lists? Any disagreements?
Agreements?
I totally agree with what you said about Drake, so many artist forget their roots once there famous and just write what they think will be hits for that exact purpose, not what inspires them. Hopefully this doesnt happen to other less famous rappers new on the scene too.
ReplyDeleteExactly, it is hard for most artists once they've reached a certain level of fame to just simply turn away from the money. I mean most of these people were "poor" just like everybody else so to speak. So i can see why they would do it, i still dont like it though.
