40 Oz. To Freedom
40 Oz. To Freedom is the debut album by the band Sublime. It is an extremely great album and is criminally underrated. When most people think of Sublime, they think of hit songs such as Santeria and What I Got. Those songs do not even scratch the surface of the true sound of Sublime. 40 Oz. is a mega twenty three song album, with most songs being heavily influenced by reggae and punk rock music. This album is where their greatest work takes place, almost every song of the twenty three could be a single. Songs like Badfish, Right Back, and Lets Go Get Stoned are some of my favorites, and many fans of Sublime are unaware of them, let alone the whole 40 oz. To Freedom album. Although 40 Oz. was a killer album it had no mainstream exposure, it wasn't until the band's third album that they gained any commercial success (the third album contained the tracks Santeria and What I Got). Just before the third album was released, Sublime's singer/songwriter Bradley Nowell died of a heroin overdose. Sadly he never got to experience any of the mainstream success the band would receive because of the album. 40 Oz. is easily one of the best albums of the 90's and is definitely worth checking out. I have never met a person who didn't like Sublime, so if you like music check out the album 40 Oz. To Freedom.
