True Grit, a western movie that fallows a fourteen year old girl named Mattie Ross who has just lost her father in a murder committed by a bandit named Tom Chaney. Mattie hires a drunken US Marshal named Rooster Cogburn to bring in Chaney to be hung for his crime. this Movie was written and shot back in the John Wayne era of movies but was remade in 2010 by the Coen brothers. In the John Wayne movie it focuses on Rooster Cogburn and portrays him as an old, gruff, and unpleasant US Marshall who was afraid of almost nothing. Wayne's Film shows the hardships of living on the wilderness and hunting fugitives. The 2010 movie fails to show any kind of so called "Grit"in fact it fails to show some of Cogburns integral parts of his personality. the 2010 movie is preoccupied with showing Mattie's side of the story and fails show that which made the first True Grit a great film. The Coen brothers film does not do justice to the story of True Grit.
