Around the world.
The song "Around the world" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, captures the essence of what rock music is all about: The perfect balance of guitar, bass, drums, and vocals, coming together to make one amazing sound.
The song begins with a thick, chunky bass line, then assaults your ears with intense guitar, the crash of drums, and a huge yell from Anthony Kiedis. At the climax of the wall of sound it ceases, followed by the twanging guitar of John Frusciante. The verses contain the same twangy guitar riff as previously mentioned, paired with all around funky bass and drums, and fun rap-rock vocals. The chorus deviates slightly from the funky sound, and delivers a more vocal centered sound, featuring soothing backing vocals under the smooth voice of Anthony. Another funky verse and melodic chorus, then out of no where you are hit with a powerful bridge (a connecting piece of the song which is not a verse or chorus), which is an extended version of the intro. The way the bridge comes out of nowhere, following the softer chorus gets me pumped up every single time, it brings the energy level way up. Like the intro, the bridge ends abruptly and a funky bass riff brings you into the final verse. One final chorus (extended version), then the song ends with a bang as the frantic outro ensues. Thumping drums, distorted guitar, and relentless bass take you on a ride for the remainder of the song until the final exciting note is played.
This is the way I have interpreted my favorite song by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I listened to the song many times while writing this and described how I thought it sounded and/or made me feel. It may be different for some, and some might not like the song at all, that is why you should listen to this great song and decide for yourself.
