Halloween as an Art
Lets begin this awesome and relevant blog with a statement: Halloween is the BEST holiday in my books. Of course, not everyone holds the same opinions as myself but I hope a lot of you do! Lets get to the point I am trying to make - Halloween is one of my personal favorites because I love seeing the creativity and passion put into SOME costumes. I love seeing the humor and the individuality each costume possesses. I just love sooooo much about Halloween that I could rant about it continuously. Now when I say that I appreciate SOME costumes I defiantly do not mean the last minute, "oh I need a costume", ones. Dressing up for this occasion can be art and for many people like myself, it is a time where we can dress however we want and receive praise for it.
The above picture is obviously me as the Hulk and my friend as Iron Man. A more simple costume but still super awesome. As a fan of Marvel and superhero flicks, I felt that the Hulk was just calling to me. I went to a Halloween party and the top two reactions I received were surprise or admiration. Mostly girls were surprised. I am not quite sure why but I begin to believe that it was more or so the fact that I received similar praise to those who wore close to nothing (you all know what I am talking about). To explain further, the play boy bunnies and strippers (girls actually said they dressed up as strippers) were shocked that a girl would dress like this. I am in no way bashing girls that like to dress sexy for this holiday, but perhaps there should be a limit.
BAM! A step up in my creativity was seen a Halloween later, when a friend and I dressed up as salt and pepper shakers for work. In my head this costume would show of my hilarious side as well as be easy on my wallet. It was extra funny because we worked in a restaurant. The only downfall to this costume was the fact that if we weren't side by side, people would get a little confused about what I was. This costume I defiantly spent less time on but showed my creativity side. In case you couldn't tell I love dressing up as duos. The last costume I am about to show you was not only done for Halloween, but for a video on my Youtube account.
I cannot help but giggle at the product of my vision. I am a male zombie. Well I tried to be. My friend was a witch, which (haha) you can't really tell due to the lack of a hat and ghastly warts. I actually painted myself completely white and then added the blood and the gashes myself. Just a side note for you future zombies, the label for the gashes defiantly says it is very easy to apply - this is false. I spent almost three hours perfecting my costume. My body was a canvas and I was so proud of the outcome. Not only did I walk the streets (taking my siblings trick - or - treating) with ripped clothes, but I fully got into character. I was limping and making sounds I would assume zombies would. If you were curious about the Youtube video, It was a Buffy the Vampire Slayer spoof.
Hopefully you are thankful that I shared these awesome photos. Not only do I love Halloween because of the free candy, but I love the fact that each and every one of us possesses the ability to create any vision we want. Ourselves as a canvas, we can create limitless possibilities. Whether you are a creature of the night or a cute fluffy animal I hope you all have a happy Halloween! Almost forgot to tell you what I am choosing to be this Halloween - Nicki Minaj. I cannot wait to wear a random colored wig and bright makeup. I shall post a picture when Halloween is over but without further a due, enjoy this holiday which ever way you want.
